Since the little lady has yet to make her appearance, I had some time to make some spring sugar cookies for my sister’s baby shower. We didn’t really have a theme other than a general “spring” thing going on, so I just used some caterpillar, duck, butterfly, and flower cookie cutters I had.
The little caterpillar faces make me really happy 🙂
This was my first attempt at freezing cookies (pre-icing) since I wasn’t sure how much time I would have before the shower. I placed each cookie flat on a cookie sheet and left them uncovered in the freezer. Once they were frozen (about 30 minutes later) I put them all in gallon sized freezer bags. When they were ready to thaw, I took the cookies out and let them thaw out on a cookie sheet. The result: cookies tasted great and stayed soft!
I also made some red velvet cupcakes for the shower. I didn’t have much time to make any fondant or buttercream decorations on the cupcakes so I made mini flags out of scrapbook paper and toothpicks to decorate them.
And now that the shower’s over and done with…we wait for the little lady!
