Better late than never

Some sweet treats made for Valentine’s Day.

I tried a new cookie recipe from i am baker. The sugar cookies came out wonderful – the almond flavor adds just the right touch of sweetness. If you get a chance, her blog is definitely worth the visit; her piping is exquisite.

Her cookies come out so shiny that I decided to try her royal icing recipe as well. I had a bit of a hard time with it though, the icing never fully dried and I made it too runny. She adds corn syrup, which gives her cookies that beautiful shine. Next time I try the recipe I need to add less milk to make it less runny.

I’m still having trouble with some air bubbles – drat! I’m going to have to revisit some cookie tutorials online.
