In September we went apple picking and collected 40 pounds of apples to make applesauce. Peeling 40 pounds of apples is a massive undertaking – next time I’ll invest in one of these.
I found an awesome recipe courtesy of Smitten Kitchen. I actually waited a couple of weeks to make my applesauce, which resulted in a naturally sweet applesauce. Yes, the recipe is for a baby, but it’s perfect because it has no sugar – just lemon juice and cinnamon.
I’d like to say that these turds helped, but all they did was wait for pieces to fall.
The result, was gloriously delicious 🙂 Now we have a bunch of jars in the basement to last through the winter.
