One of the greatest blogs about baking I’ve ever seen belongs to Bakerella, of http://bakerella.blogspot.com/. Full credit has to be given to her for inspiring this latest blog. She makes these “cake pops” which are amazingly decorated!
This weekend, with the help of my little chef in training…
We had our first attempt at making cake pops!
I admit the first attempt was quite messy but now we’re geared and ready to try some other ones later. Perhaps some Halloween ones? Hmmm…stay tuned!
To learn how to make all sorts of cake pops, visit Bakerella’s page: http://bakerella.blogspot.com/search/label/cake%20pops.
You start out with all of your fun ingredients: you’ll need cake mix, frosting, and candy melts and then any other fun candy, sprinkles, and chocolate that you can collect.
Essentially, you bake the cake and then crumble it to mix with the frosting. Then you roll the mixture into balls and stick lollipop sticks in each ball with the help of some melted chocolate. It’s going to look something like this:
After you’re done making these, you’ll want to put them in the fridge (or freezer) for a couple hours so they can harden. Then, you can start dipping them in melted chocolate. You’ll want to stick them straight up to dry. You can use a piece of foam, as you can see we had to improvise with an empty egg carton 🙂
Then, the decorating begins! You can decorate these anyway you like!
You can make cute little dogs!
You can always sneak the occasional bite too 😉
Don’t forget to wrap them up all pretty to take to grandmas!
Thanks again to Bakerella for having such an awesome blog to share with the family!
